L’Équipe have released a short video of the club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas describing his team’s recent run to the Europa League final.
Aulas told L’Equipe that Lyon have “tremendous” success in the Champions League and that his team are now aiming to reach the Europa league final.
“It’s a good time,” he said.
“The Europa League is a very good competition and a great competition for us, it’s an incredible experience for us.”
It’s been very important to get back to our normal level, to get results.
We can’t wait to take the next step.
“The France coach also told Légion d’honneur that the club is prepared to take on the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the group stages of the Champions league.
A couple of days ago, Lyon won their first three games of the group stage, which ended in a 3-3 draw with Borussia Dortmund.
Lyon, who have qualified for the Europa by beating Juventus in the previous round, are now unbeaten in their last four games.”
Lyon are an exciting team,” Aulas said.”
They’re not the easiest team to play.
They’ve played well, but we are still searching for our form.
“Aulas also gave his full praise to Lyon’s assistant coach Marcelo Bielsa, who guided the club to a fourth place finish in the Ligue 2 last season.”
I’m very happy for Marcelo.
I know him and I know what he is doing, but I know he’s a great coach,” Aula said.
We want to win,” Alexandre Lacazette said.”
We’re ready for it.
We want to win,” Alexandre Lacazette said.
In the other matches, Lyon will face a Champions League group stage opponent, AS Monaco, who are already playing their home games.
Lyon are already in the Europa zone, and Aulas is confident they will qualify for the knockout stages of this year’s competition.
