A 5-month-old child died in a nursing home explosion Monday in Montefino, Mass., a spokesman for the town of about 500 residents said.
Montefior is about 35 miles (48 kilometers) north of Boston.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Scott Peebles of the Massachusetts State Police, who said it was unclear whether the child was the baby’s mother.
The child was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, Peeballs said.
No other injuries were reported, he added.
The blast occurred at a home on the second floor of a duplex on the grounds of Montefior, which is owned by the Montefiores, according to the town’s website.
The home, located on a large plot of land, was built in the 1930s, and was later used as a nursing homes for nursing mothers.
