The nursing home at Pinecretts Midway nursing facility in Pinecresh, Minn., is expected to reopen Tuesday.
The fire was reported at 9:47 a.m.
The nursing facility is on Pinecres Boulevard.
Officials say the fire was brought under control about 30 minutes after it was reported.
“We’re confident that it’s going to be under control,” Pinecress Fire Chief Greg Kincaid said.
Firefighters will check to see if the structure is structurally sound and if the fire has stopped.
It was unclear how many people were inside the building at the time.
Kincard said the fire had been contained by about 6:30 p.m., but that he expects to reopen to the public in about an hour.
The Twin Cities, Minnesota, hospital has been in the news in recent years.
In October, the fire department announced that a nursing home had a “serious risk of collapse” after it had been closed for a few months because of a nursing-home facility collapse in 2011.
In 2013, it was revealed that a health care facility in the Twin Cities was experiencing an issue with the use of equipment.
