A New Jersey woman is raising money for her husband’s illness with a simple online campaign.
The campaign started last week with a picture of a baby who appears to have the cold, flu and other illnesses, and has since been shared over 200,000 times on social media.
“I just think the more people that know that there is a person out there that can really care for their loved ones, the better off they are,” said the mother, who asked not to be identified.
The woman is an RN and a former caregiver for children at the nursing home.
She is using the fundraising campaign to help her husband, Michael, recover.
She has set up a GoFundMe account for the costs of his medical bills and has also raised money for the couple’s three other children.
The family has a 3-year-old and a 1-year old.
The couple’s oldest child is 7 and the oldest is 2.
The youngest, a baby girl, was born just over a month ago.
The mother has been volunteering for weeks at her home.
She was also at a hospice clinic the day of her son’s birth.
“It’s so heartbreaking.
I’m just so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support,” she said.
The money raised so far has surpassed $10,000.
The campaign has already raised more than $1,000 of its goal.
The New Jersey Department of Health said they will be accepting donations until Sunday.
