More than 50 deaths linked to nursing home fire October 31, 2021 October 31, 2021 admin

A total of 50 people died in a nursing home blaze in Stonebridge, Indiana, state health officials said Monday.

The fire broke out at a home on March 23.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office.

State fire marshals said the blaze broke out during a rehabilitation facility in the Stonebridge area.

They did not have more information on the cause of death.

According to the fire marshal’s office, a resident in a home with a resident caretaker in a nearby residence noticed smoke coming from a vent that had leaked and reported the incident to other residents.

Investigators say that the nursing home owner did not immediately report the fire to fire departments because he thought it was a fire inside his residence.

Indiana state fire marshalls said they did not find any evidence that the home was leaking, and the blaze was under control.
