NANCY, N.C. — A nursing home nurse was fired Monday after it was discovered she allowed a woman to sleep at a nursing facility that was in a state of emergency, the North Carolina Department of Health said.
The nursing home was at the Brookehaven Nursing Home in Franklin, North Carolina, where a nursing mother was being treated for an Ebola virus infection.
According to the department, the nursing home told staff the woman had permission to sleep there.
The nursing home notified the Department of Human Resources.
But after the nurse was questioned by the nursing mother, she was terminated, the department said.
The woman who was in the facility was not treated.
The department has ordered the nursing facility to provide a written explanation to the nursing mom.
