A nursing home resident in South Carolina was infected with HIV, according to a report from The Next Big Thing.
The report said the resident, who did not want to be named, is the latest in a long list of residents to contract the virus.
The nursing home’s website describes the resident as a “local leader of community leaders, nurses and residents who care for the frail elderly and people with chronic diseases.”
According to the report, the resident is the only resident in the facility that was diagnosed with HIV.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that the resident was treated at the nursing home after being admitted last October and had returned to work.
The resident was not the only one at the facility who contracted HIV.
In November, a nursing home in New York City was found to have more than a dozen residents with HIV in their care, according the New York Times.
